It’s time to come out of hibernation, Code for Baltimore!

Come meet other techies who are interested in doing code for good and civic projects at our first event of 2023 🎉

This is a casual social event 🗣️

Who should come?

  • New members welcome. We’d love to have both people who have been before AND new people. Interested in seeing what we're about and feeling the vibe of this group? Yay great!
  • Many roles needed. We want people from many different roles/backgrounds: developers, designers, user researchers, product managers, communications professionals, and other roles. A sister group of ours Ruby for Good has a great list of roles needed.
  • Wide experience range wanted. We want people who are more experienced AND less experienced. We often have a range of skill levels at our events. We don’t formally coordinate mentorship (lately) but mentorship does often happen at these!

What will we do?

At this event we will mostly just socialize and meet each other!

At future events we’ll work on projects together — like for local clients who really need and value our support. We haven’t selected any projects for 2023 yet. Check out some of our past projects to get an idea of the kind of things we work on.

Does it cost money? Or will we get paid?
Nope! Our events are free, and nobody gets paid for this work. This is a volunteer organization.

ABOUT R HOUSE

Location / Parking
R house is a food court in northern Baltimore City. Google Maps for R House.
There is plenty of parking around.

You are encouraged to get food or drinks from the stalls around to support the businesses (but not required to!).

Finding Us
We are not reserving the space, we are just gathering here in the food court.

We’ll post some photos of ourselves day-of so you can find us! Here’s one friendly face you’ll see - Casey.

Covid?
R House is an indoor food court. It’s a larger space, but it can get crowded.
Masks are encouraged but not required (and we cannot control the people around us whether they mask or not).

ABOUT CODE FOR BALTIMORE

Who runs this group?
This group is run by local community members. If you’re interested, we could use your help too! :)
We are affiliated with Code for America as a “brigade”, but they do not run our group directly. Code for America does provide some support for us, like a Slack and Discourse server where we can talk with peer groups for mutual support.

Code of Conduct
By interacting with us (by attending our events or joining our Slack, etc), you agree to follow our Code of Conduct. If you experience an issue yourself, or oversee an issue please let us know — talk to an organizer, or report it.

Get Involved

  1. Join us on the Code for Baltimore Slack.
  2. Make sure you follow [Code for Baltimore on Meetup.com](https://www.meetup.com/code-for-baltimore/) to hear about events.

  6. Another great Meetup you might like is Baltimore Techies for Good.

We need your help
Since this group is community-run, we only have as much bandwidth to meet and do projects as our membership has.
We’d love your help! Join us in the #volunteers-and-organizers channel on our Slack.

COVID-19 safety measures
