Organizer's Note:

This event is part of our 2018 Civic Engagement Launchpad series. We're excited to host this workshop to help Launchpad teams prepare for their Demo Night presentations on 5/22. This workshop is an opportunity for teams to run through their presentations (or as much of their presentations as they have ready) and receive feedback from Launchpad organizers.

This workshop is for Launchpad project teams only. Hack space will still be available for all of our community's project teams to work.

Schedule:

6pm - Doors open, grab a spot

6:25 - Opening Remarks

6:30 - Demo Night Presentation Workshop Begins

7:00 - Q&A

7:30 onward - Open networking, hacking and collaboration time

9pm - Commit and quit

Reminder:
Code for Philly projects are all free, open source, and operate in the civic space.

We encourage new and existing community members to sharpen your skills and help Philly at the same time! Checkout codeforphilly.org/projects to learn how you can get involved.

---- FAQs -----

• What's Launchpad?
The Civic Engagement Launchpad is a month-long community initiative to launch public, open source, and multi-disciplinary projects. We welcome anyone who wants to engage with fellow citizens and local government. Think weekend hackathon, but with more sleep, discovery, research and time to deliver. Come see this year's Launchpad project's at our demo night on 5/22.

• What if I'm new to Code for Philly?

Hack nights are unstructured and designed to focus on working. Many project teams coordinate their attendance in advance. Please be considerate if you see a group in deep conversation. This might be the only time this month that they gather in-person! We have many other events with open socializing as well as events that provide an introduction to our community. To get started, create a profile (https://codeforphilly.org/register), join us on Slack (https://codeforphilly.org/chat), and subscribe to our meetup page. We look forward to meeting you.

• What do I need to know before showing up?

Don’t forget your computer! Code for Philly does not provide any devices, so if you need your computer to work be sure to bring it with you.

• Do I need to be a coder?

No! We need civic hackers of all varieties. Healthy civic tech projects have developers, designers, community partners, project managers/owners, and need lots of help. If you’re an experienced professional, we welcome you to contribute your expertise whatever it looks like.

As with all our events, we require attendees to follow our Code of Conduct (https://codeforphilly.org/pages/code_of_conduct/).
