Let's Build an MCP Server!

Details

We'll do this this tutorial together.

Join us for a hands-on session where we'll build a simple Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. MCP is an open standard for giving LLMs access to tools and context that has generated a lot of buzz lately. Following Debbie O'Brien's tutorial, we'll create a simple command-line-based MCP server in TypeScript.

Who Should Attend
Anyone interested in learning about modern AI tooling. You don't need experience in TypeScript, but we will get into the nitty-gritty so you will want to be comfortable with programming.

Optional Setup
You are welcome to bring a laptop and follow along. If you want to set up in advance, we recommend:

  • setting up an IDE such as VSCode that supports TypeScript
  • installing NodeJS

Timeline
