- Coffee & Creative Walk on Jacksonville BeachLukumades Jacksonville Beach, Jacksonville Beach, FL
There's tons of research that shows that walking is good for creativity and clearing the mind. Add to that the sound of the ocean which is good for reducing stress and gaining clarity, I figure a beach walk is just what this group needs.
We won't be working on anything today. But we will grab some drinks and/or Greek doughnuts from the new Lukumades shop in town. Then we'll head out for a nice long walk along Jacksonville Beach.
- Coffee & Creative Stuff at Foxtail (San Marco)Foxtail Coffee Co & Kelly’s Ice Cream - San Marco, Jacksonville, FL
Let's head to San Marco for coffee, tea, or ice cream at Foxtail Coffee!
Bring whatever creative activity or hobby you're working on. We'll find a spot inside or outside (weather permitting) and hang out for a couple hours while we work on our individual projects.
- Lunch & Book Swap Party @ Poe's TavernPoe's Tavern, Atlantic Beach, FL
If you guys have never heard of a book swap before, it's kind of like a Yankee swap. Here's how it works:
- Go to your bookshelf and grab a book that you enjoy and would like to share with others (if you can part with it). Or you can buy a used copy that's in good condition. Please don't spend more than $10!
- Wrap it up in gift wrap, newspaper, whatever.
- Bring it to lunch and place it in the center of the table.
- We'll take turns picking a book from the table and unwrapping it.
- If you get a book that you're on the fence about, you can steal someone else's or pick a new one from the pile.
- If your book is stolen, you can steal from someone else or pick a new one.
- Note: A book can only be stolen twice. The second "thief" gets to keep the book.
- The swap ends when everyone has a book.
We're going to do this at Poe's Tavern. Seemed like a fitting spot for a book swap. There's great food, a relaxed ambience, and Edgar Allen Poe-inspired artwork, menu, and bathrooms.
I have just one rule for the book swap: Please do not bring any books that are political or otherwise controversial in nature. This is supposed to be a fun event and I want everyone to enjoy their new read at the end.
- Coffee & Creative Stuff at Ink FactoryInk Factory Coffee Shop, Jacksonville Beach, FL
Ink Factory Brewing sells coffee and tea from 9 to 3 every day. If you haven't been here before, this place is cool. There's the main brewery area in the front as well as a couple areas in the back with a bunch of seating amongst the video games and entertainment. The last time we went, we had the whole back space to ourselves, which was great!
Bring whatever creative activity or hobby you're working on. We'll find a cozy spot and hang out for a couple hours while we work on our individual projects.
- Arts & Crafts at PinspirationPinspiration Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
Usually, we bring our own creative projects to work on. However, for this meetup, we're going to head over to Pinspiration in Ponte Vedra where you'll work on a craft of your own choosing.
They have all kinds of things. You can make boards and signage for your home, customize coasters and lazy susans, create acrylic or string art, and much more.
You'll get templates or stencils to start with as well as crafts to do them up however you see fit!
Here's how it works:
- Browse through the Projects to find a few you like.
- Click "Book Now" in the top-right corner of the site.
- Set the location to Jacksonville.
- Choose "Projects" from the options (under #2).
- Set the number of adults and children going with you.
- Pick August 29 and 7:00pm for the date and time.
- Scroll down to see a list of all the available projects and their pricing.
- Choose the one you want and pay the $6.50 to hold your reservation.
That's it!
To ensure the project you want is available, I'd recommend making the reservation in advance.
