ABOUT THIS SESSION:
Our noon (US ET) talk on Thursday Oct 15 will be Michael Evangelista presenting , "ColdFusion Contact Forms with Captcha-Free Spam Prevention".
TOPIC DESCRIPTION:
Spam. Monty Python loved it, but we can't tolerate the stuff, especially in our ColdFusion contact forms.
See a simple demonstration of triple-layered unobtrusive spam prevention, without the use of captcha or other extra steps added to the user experience. We'll talk about honeypots, naughty words, and the obvious way to keep html-formatted form-junk out of your customers' inboxes, using methods you can add to any CF/html form, new or existing, in just a few quick steps.
SPEAKER:
Michael Evangelista is the owner of GoWest Web ( www.gowestweb.com ), providing custom website solutions to a wide range of business clients both locally and internationally, and is an avid CF programmer and general ColdFusion community enthusiast. Michael also owns and operates GoWest Hosting ( www.gowesthosting.com ), offering reliable ColdFusion hosting geared towards professional reseller-developers.
In addition to a diverse portfolio of web design and application development projects, Michael publishes a blog at www.miuaiga.com, has authored both free and subscriber articles at CommunityMX.com, and was recently tapped to lead the ColdFusion team for the well-known Cartweaver Ecommerce software. He lives in southern Utah with his wife and 4 children.
RECORDING: As always, the meeting will be recorded, and the recording URL will be posted after the meeting at https://recordings.coldfusionmeetup.com .
PODCAST/DOWNLOADABLE RECORDINGS:
We are still attempting to make this meeting available as a downloadable recording. If/when available, they will be listed on the recordings page within a few days of the meeting. Until then, you can find discussion of the challenges creating such downloadable recordings here (https://www.meetup.com/coldfusionmeetup/pages/Challenges_creating_downloadable_recordings/).
LOGGING IN: When you login to the Connect room (the experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup link above) to view the meeting, PLEASE USE THE "LOGIN AS GUEST" option, and USE YOUR NAME, but do NOT attempt to use your meetup.com username/password or any Connect account. Just sign in as a guest.
RSVP, but only if coming: We do appreciate folks RSVPing if they plan to come (using the link on this email or at the meetup site), though it's not mandatory and it's not a commitment. But there's no need to RSVP if you can't make it let alone explain why you can't. With over 1,900 members, no worries. :-)
FEEDBACK/MEETING DISCUSSION: Members will receive an email after the meeting or can click a link on the event page to offer. Note also the meeting-specific discussion area there at the bottom, in addition to the one-chance feedback feature on the right. Feel free to engage in discussions about the meeting topic.
ADD THIS TO YOUR CALENDAR: Want to add this event to your own personal calendar? See link on the right of the event page saying, "Add this meeting to your calendar", which offers links to get calendar downloads for Outlook, iCal, Google, and Yahoo calendars.
