Bike Touring Workshop (also for beginner backpackers & running errands by bike!)

Car-free vacation! Car-free life! ... Car-free = Carefree!

Curious about BIKE TOURING, BACKPACKING, or DOING YOUR GROCERY SHOPPING/ ERRANDS on your bike? At this workshop, I will help prepare you to do all of the following:

• Bike Tour/ Bike Pack

• Backpack (as backpacking basics will also be covered)

• Commute and do all your errands by bike

If you can bring backpacking gear - bring it! If not, I will have my set-up, and others will have new gear they will be trying out! So, you can learn how to set up your own gear, OR you can learn from other newbies (and myself) where to shop and what to get! (We will highlight secondhand options!)

Workshop Highlights:

• Bike ride with all camping gear secured to bike (At least 2 of us will have a set-up, and feel free to rig up your bike, even if you are trying it out for the first time.)

• Setting up camp & Breaking down camp

• Hanging food in a tree (discussing other bear-safe/ critter-safe options)

Come with QUESTIONS! I will do my best to answer any questions about touring as well as ideas to run any errand you can think of with a bike:-)

*** If you already bike tour, feel free to message me. We may extend the event to add a couple of slide shows and sharing of bike touring experiences! Food - I eat a plant-based diet, and I will be happy to answer questions about food & bike touring. In fact, I will be packing my favorite foods as a demonstration of how to prepare for a trip!

Values - Bike Touring isn't only fun and freeing, it is a great way to recreate that is good for the environment! Using few resources is a great way to not contribute to habitat loss and pollution, which affects all living beings. (And commuting by bike & running errands without a car is also a way to be a steward of the earth and for your community.)
