What we're about

Do you love or want to travel to exotic destinations, to dive in incredible marine ecosystems and visit world cultures? We travel to the Caribbean (Cozumel, Roatan, Bonaire, Bahamas, and Belize), the South Pacific (Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands), and the Galapagos, mostly to dive, but also to enjoy world cultures. We’ll also go to remote places to swim with big fish (whales, and sharks) that can eat us, but they choose not to. We search for discounted opportunities to plan dive and travel adventures. We have lots of dive and travel opportunities for 2018, 2019, and beyond. Please consider joining us, for travel, diving, adventure, and more. We’ll meet locally to socialize, to share photos/videos of past adventures, and bring in local speakers/photographers.

Philippines - MAGIC RESORTS (MAGIC Island + MAGIC Oceans)

Cebu City

Magic Island Resort will be our home on Cebu: September 13-18, 2023

On Cebu, there is a region called Moalboal, meaning ‘bubbling stream’. It is a small town on the island of Cebu, with around 25 recognized dive sites and more are being discovered. The range of diving is excellent, with vertical walls, a cathedral like cave, healthy coral reefs and plenty of macro life.

Moalboal has a vast array of marine life, from the very tiny Denise Pygmy Seahorse, to the sexy and elegant Thresher Shark that is often spotted hunting the huge school of Sardines that reside at Panagsama Wall. The Sardine bait ball is a spectacle all by itself, with well over a million sardines making up the school. Watching them shift and change shapes as the predators swoop in to catch a tasty mouth full is just mesmerizing.

Magic Oceans Resort will be our home on Bohol: September 18-25, 2023

Across the channel from Cebu is the beautiful island of Bohol, a tropical haven of natural beauty, with pristine beaches and colourful coral dive sites for both divers and snorkellers to enjoy. Land attractions include the resident tarsiers and the world-famous Chocolate Hills.

Whale Sharks at Magic Oceans Dive Resort

From XXS to XXL: Anda is well-known because its variety in marine life. The Bargibanti Pygmy Seahorse and the Black Hairy Frogfish are just a few examples of the small, but great critters you can find in this area. However, you can also find the biggest fish in the ocean in this area: the Whale Shark.

Whale Sharks are often seen during a regular dive at Magic Oceans. However, only 1 hour away from the resort, we recently discovered an area where you can interact with these friendly giants on a daily basis!
We do offer the possibility to dive or snorkel with them during a half day trip, of course in a responsible and professional way.

La Paz - Sea of Cortez: Mobulas + Orcas

La Paz

Some have called the Sea of Cortez the "Aquarium of the World". No matter a title, every year, tens of thousands of Mobula Rays visit the coastlines of the Sea of Cortez in Mexico's Baja California peninsula - please watch the video. The congregations of rays are one of the most incredible natural spectacles on our planet — and one of the largest in the world.
For the adventurer, scuba diver, or ocean lover, this region of the Baja Peninsula is one of the most inviting places in North America. This will be more than a dive trip. In fact, this is not a dive trip, but we'll likely make 1-2 dives, and those dives will be at Los Islotes with the sea lion colony. But, we'll be on the water at least 5 days, looking for anything that will share the ocean with us. It could be dolphins, sea lions, manta rays, whale sharks, or humpback whales. It could even be a blue whale.
But, the reason we're going, is to swim with the Mobula Rays. Yes, this is a snorkel trip. And, let's make no secret about our intentions - where there are mobula rays, there are very likely Orcas that are hunting the rays. Our chance to swim with mobula rays is very good since this is their season, and we will pay for a spotter plane (to increase our chances) for a few of this days.

Cuba - Jardines de la Reina

Havana

Jardines de la Reina - Gardens of the Queen

Scuba diving in the Gardens of the Queen in Cuba is one of the global diving hotspots this year. This area has been a marine park for over 20 years and the protection has paid off. Dr David E. Guggenheim, an American marine biologist and senior fellow at the Ocean Foundation in Washington stated that Jardines de la Reina is "the most incredibly well protected and flourishing reef I've ever seen".

Coral reefs are often called "the rainforests of the ocean." They're not just biologically diverse and stunningly beautiful, they're a source of food and income for much of the world's population, and they're in danger. Scientists estimate that 25 percent of the world's reefs have died off and what's left is at risk. There is, however, one spot in the Caribbean that marine biologists describe as a kind of "under-water Eden," a coral reef largely untouched by man. It's called the Gardens of the Queen.

Diving in Jardines de la Reina is unique due to a collaboration between the government and privately owned Italian company Avalon which holds the licence for Scuba diving in the park, allowing a maximum of 1200 divers per year and granted permits to live in the marine sanctuary on a liveaboard.

Jardines Avalon II

Jardines Avalon II is a 136' long and 25' wide steel yacht, built and maintained to SOLAS shipping standards. It's diesel-powered, cruise at 10 knots and have 110-volt power onboard.

It features a roomy, air conditioned salon and dining area, sun deck complete with a hot tub (Jacuzzi), lounge and deck chairs, stereo, shaded wet bar and grill, and a complete photo center with a digital video and still photo editing computer.

Jardines Avalon II's beverages selection includes fruit juices, soft drinks, iced water, iced tea, coffee, and a full bar of beer, wine and spirits.
