What we’re about

This is a group for road and gravel / trail riding in the Colorado Front Range area and places within a reasonable drive of it, consisting primarily of no-drop friendly rides.

Typically we ride as a group of friends, meaning the company is more important than our pace -- though there is an expected basic pace, distance, elevation gain, etc, that will be made clear for each ride.

Rides will typically begin in late April to early May, and run through November. Winter rides will be less common / intermittent.

Outings will include gravel/trail rides of about 10-25 miles (sometimes more, occasionally less) and road rides of about 20-40 miles (sometimes more, occasionally less).

Ride locations include urban roads, paved bike paths, suburbo-rural bike trails, rural roads (paved and not-paved), and dirt / gravel trails.

This group is not at the level of expert paceline type riders. It is also not for slobs. You should have an intermediate level of aerobic fitness (i.e. at least be in “pretty good shape” by Colorado standards) and have an intermediate level of cycling skill.

As mentioned, all rides (unless otherwise indicated) are no-drop friendly rides that will regroup as needed. That said, you are expected to only attend rides that are a match with your level of fitness and that you can complete in the expected time. If a ride offers a challenge that requires heightened level of skill or fitness that will be made clear.

Please also read our "Rider obligations on no-drop rides."

Yes, you can bring a mountain bike on any rides, though you may face a small but not insignificant disadvantage in some cases. E-bikes are also fine, as long as you know what you're doing, don't disrupt the pace, and can ride safely. In general you are responsible for the consequences of the equipment you choose to bring.

Note that this is not a singles group, and as such people of any "relationship status" are welcome. It also is not an age-specific group, and as such you should be comfortable with (gasp) spending time with other adults who might be older or younger than yourself.

It is the official position of the group that the Rules of the Velominati can be quite amusing and worth debating but not something to be taken seriously. Well except maybe #5.

To be a member your profile must include a first name you use -- i.e. not just "R." or "LovesCats123" -- and a photo of yourself. Anyone who "no-shows" to an event more than once may be removed from the group.

Lastly this group has a strict "no jerks and no assholes" policy that will be enforced by removing any jerks or assholes from the group. In brief: act like a dick, and you’re out. In contrast, if you’re a cool, nice person you’ll fit right in.
