What we’re about
Welcome! This group is for people between the ages of 20 and 45 who want to explore, meet new people, and want some adventure. If you are into hiking and backpacking, snowshoeing, skiing/snowboarding, camping, then this is a great meetup for you. My goal is for this to be a very active group and am always open to suggestions! I plan to have small group sizes (20 people or less) on all events. I am doing this to keep things at a more manageable level when in the wilderness.
Disclaimer: Hiking is risky. Every year people are hurt and killed because they go beyond their abilities, get lost, or bring the wrong gear. I spend hours researching hikes and rely on various sources, but I can't vouch for their accuracy. I am not a professional guide, you are responsible for yourself. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for your own safety and will do the necessary research to understand the conditions of this hike and the gear you require.
Most of the hikes that I post will be dog friendly but please follow the rules for the area that we will be in (such as Boulder’s leash law if you don’t have the permit) and if I note in the description that the hike’s not dog friendly due to the rules in the area that we're in (such as the fact that the hike's in a national park), please leave your pooch at home.
Regarding the camping and backpacking trips that I post, for the safety of myself and everyone else in the group, I'm only letting people that have done at least one day hike with me on them. I plan on posting many day hikes so that shouldn't too hard of a criteria to achieve.
Also, I DON'T plan on instituting a 3 Strike and You're Out Policy like some groups (aka if you bail 3 times at the last minute I'm kicking you out of the group), but if there's a wait list please be mindful of other people and keep your RSVP up to date. Not getting fired will ALWAYS be more important than an after work hike (or a hike in general).
However, with that said, if you're constantly bailing at the last minute (such as 5 times in a 2-3 month period), show up unprepared (such as by not bringing layers in general or by not bringing traction when I say repeatedly that traction is mandatory) and try to obnoxiously insist on coming on the hike even though I tell you not to, or repeatedly prove that you don't know your limits (such as by showing up to a 15 mile hike when you shouldn't probably do more than an 8 miler), among other things, I do reserve the right to remove you from the group. If you're unsure as to what gear to bring or what your limits are please message me and ask :-). I plan on posting a variety of hikes (between 2 - 15 miles) so it should be a great way for you to find out.
