Multiplayer: How AI Native Teams Are Building Today

Multiplayer: How AI Native Teams Are Building Today

AI has changed how product teams work, but has it changed how well they understand each other?

This Colorado Product session at Colorado Startup Week pairs two practitioners with very different vantage points on the same question.
Bree Thomas leads product at Homebot, managing a large engineering org while staying hands-on as a builder. She'll share her own path from research into building, how AI-assisted conversations - sometimes nothing fancier than a Slack thread - have become her team's shared context in place of formal handoffs, and practical first steps for anyone who's only used AI for research and hasn't crossed over into building with it yet.
John Cutler writes The Beautiful Mess, one of the most-read newsletters in product development, and has spent the past year thinking hard about the gap between AI that feels collaborative and AI that actually produces shared understanding. He'll bring his "Single Player to Multiplayer" thinking, adapted for founders and small teams where there's no room for context to quietly go single-player.

Expect real tension, not a shared script: Bree's practical case for AI-as-shared-context meets John's questions about what's really being shared. Stick around after for happy hour and an AMA, and if you've got strong opinions of your own, you might end up on the panel.

Stick around after the talks for an AMA and happy hour starting around 5!

About Bree Thomas
Bree Thomas is VP of Product at Homebot, where she leads a large product and engineering organization while staying personally hands-on in the build process. Her CSW talk traces her path from research to building, how AI-assisted conversation is reshaping her team's shared context, and how to get started if you're not there yet.

About John Cutler
John Cutler writes The Beautiful Mess, a weekly newsletter on product development read by 60,000+ subscribers, and has spent four years working with product teams around the world (previously at Amplitude). His recent writing and talks, including "Single Player to Multiplayer: AI, Context, and Collaboration" dig into whether AI tools are genuinely building shared understanding on teams or quietly pushing knowledge work toward isolation.
