Description
The quantum industry is growing rapidly, with an estimated 10,000 new jobs by 2030 —80% of which will not require an advanced degree. As companies commercialize quantum computing, sensing, and networking technologies which were previously academic research projects, pushing the boundaries of control over atomic scale phenomena, this creates a pressing need for a workforce with diverse, hands-on technical skills. To help meet this demand, Emily Griffith Technical College will launch a Quantum Technician program in February 2027, in collaboration with Elevate Quantum, CNM-Ingenuity, CU Boulder and other partners. The program will provide hands-on training in Optics, Electronics, Spectroscopy and Vacuum Systems, culminating in capstone projects focused on quantum optics and neutral atom trapping. Dr. Nash will share updates on the program’s launch and explore job opportunities in this dynamic field, highlighting how workforce training programs can align career seekers with the growing opportunities of the quantum industry.

Speaker
Boaz Nash is the Quantum Learning Lab and Technician Program Manager at Emily Griffith Technical College. Dr. Nash has a PhD in physics from Stanford University, and worked as a research scientist in the field of particle accelerators and synchrotron light sources for close to 20 years. His research focused on electron beam dynamics, optical beamlines and partially coherent synchrotron radiation. He delivered lectures at conferences and schools, advised students and has a strong interest in making complex technical material accessible to learners of all levels. He is also an avid painter, bringing physics concepts into his abstract art.
