Prague, the most beautiful city in Europe
Prague’s allure is that it feels like a city time forgot to modernize. Wander the cobbled lanes at dusk and you’re walking through nine centuries at once — Romanesque cellars beneath Gothic towers beneath baroque facades, all of it survived nearly untouched by the wars that flattened so much of the continent.
There’s a melancholic beauty to it. The spires (a hundred of them, they say) catch the light differently depending on the hour — gold at sunset, ghostly under fog rolling off the Vltava. Charles Bridge at dawn, before the tour groups arrive, has a stillness that feels almost otherworldly: stone saints watching over the river, mist hanging low.
It’s also a city that rewards curiosity. Behind unmarked doors are speakeasy bars, hidden courtyards, and beer halls that haven’t changed their recipes in centuries. The architecture shifts block by block — Gothic into Renaissance into Cubist, a style Prague uniquely embraced in ways almost no other city did.

Hotel Paris Prague is the kind of building that makes you stop mid-step on the pavement. Standing at the confluence of three cobbled streets near Náměstí Republiky, its facade rises like a wedding cake of stone lace — turrets, gables, and ornamental ironwork dressed in the swirling, organic lines of Art Nouveau layered over a Neo-Gothic frame. It creates a genuine architectural promontory where the streets meet, and at first glance you might think you’d wandered into Paris rather than Bohemia — hence the name.
Dresden, the Florence on the Elbe
Dresden earns its nickname “Florence on the Elbe” honestly — it’s a city built on contrast: baroque splendor rebuilt from near-total ruin, sitting on a river bend that makes the skyline look staged for a painting.
What makes it special is that history here isn’t hidden, it’s the whole point. The Frauenkirche is the clearest symbol of that — reduced to rubble in the February 1945 firebombing, its stones catalogued and left as a war memorial for decades, then painstakingly reassembled stone by original stone after reunification. You can still see the dark, scorched original blocks set against the pale new sandstone — a city literally showing its scars alongside its recovery.
