Monday Night Dinner Ride - 26 May 2025

Details

We had a "weather debate" for a 26 May ride yesterday and decided to take our chance with the weather and go a little earlier for the Holiday ride. We'll rehost the 2nd CSCC Monday Night Dinner Ride for 2025 on May 26th. Last week we canceled the ride at 4pm because the rain and thunder wouldn't clear out until 6:30.

As a reminder: While this is classified as a Green ride, you should be able to continuously ride comfortably at a speed of 10 miles per hour, with a variation of speed between 9 and 15 mph (depending on uphill or downhill). We usually regroup a few times during the ride. Typically, the ride will be 10 to 14 miles in length (gradually moving towards that 14-mile length as we progress into the summer). The increased fitness and length opens up some different routes for us.

Our co-host is Dale Campbell for this series. He will not be with us this week. We all have some schedule conflicts this summer. So check the calendar each week to make sure there are ride plans/arrangements for that Monday.

For this Dinner Ride, plan to gather at our usual location in the parking lot in University Village (UV) {north of Panera} around 4:15pm. We want to start the ride promptly at 4:30. This week we'll exit out of UV by Costco and ride south on the Greenway Trail. We'll return to UV after about 60 to 75 minutes of riding. At that point, the ride should give us a sufficient amount of fresh air and exercise to be hungry enough to order at a UV restaurant when we get back.

The Fox 21 weather forecast for 26 May is a 20-30 % chance of rain showers scattered around the area between Sunday and Monday. So we'll ride south on the trail and take shelter from any afternoon rain under the traffic bridges or under roof overhangs of buildings/shelters in Gossage Park. This has proven to work in past years. If the weather radar https://www.kktv.com/weather/radar/ shows rain on the way then we can still eat and sometimes ride after the showers stop.

Ride Rsvps are appreciated, but not required. Looking forward to riding with you on Monday!
