What we’re about
This is a monthly gathering established in April 2023 for people to sink deep into self-expression and creative expansion through intentional movement. Supported by a curated menu of music of all genres and lightly guided with somatic cues and imagery, those who step into this space will have permission to explore their depths through an embodied practice of listening, delving, immersing, emerging, and integrating. No dancing experience is necessary to participate—only an open mind and curiosity about what moves you.
This is a space for people who want to move but don’t want the nightclub scene
Who want to be curious, creative, deep, authentic
Who want to move beyond the confines of their living room
To be inspired by the movement of others
To be seen, to be witnessed
For people who have never danced but want to be moved
For people who have danced and want to keep exploring
For people who are intimidated by choreography and would rather let their soul be the teacher
For people who feel disconnected from their self and need recharging
For people who are connected and want to keep that momentum going
For people who want to slow down
For people who want to shake things up!
UPDATE 12/6/24: Meetup has drastically increased its fees for group organizers, and it might not be financially prudent to continue promoting these monthly dance gatherings on this platform. In 2025, I may choose to close this group ... but Dancing Your Depths is not going away! Please reach out to me, and I will add you to my mailing list. We dance every month!
Upcoming events (3)
See all- Dancing Your Depths – Return to Friday evenings in May!Root: Center for Yoga & Sacred Studies, Colorado Springs, CO$15.00
Dancing Your Depths is an intentional and imaginative movement practice (sometimes called "conscious dance") where we sink deep into self-expression and creative expansion, supported by a curated and varied menu of music. This group has been meeting monthly since April 2023!
There are no steps or choreography, but the practice is scaffolded by a loose framework that serves as a container for our explorations. Metaphors, somatic prompts, and imagery and imagination are all tools used to find new ways to tap into our deepest and most expansive self.
No dancing experience is necessary—only an open mind and curiosity about what moves you.
(This event is promoted in multiple ways, so attendance on Meetup does not reflect actual participation.)
Location: Root Center for Yoga & Sacred Studies
617 N. 17th Street, Suite 200, Colorado Springs (upper level)Cost: $15 per person. Pay at the door with cash or Venmo.
Parking: The building has its own parking lot. Additional free street parking available on the side streets.
Accessibility: There is a steep flight of steps outside to reach the second level. Please reach out to me at least a day in advance for information on how to access the alternative entrance with a ramp.
Important: Please plan to arrive ~5 minutes early to check in and get settled. For safety reasons, doors may be locked after start time.
