Hi Everyone,
I need to let you all know that I have to cancel all future events for this year. My best friend was in a fatal car accident near Rifle, Colorado a few days ago and I have agreed and have obligations to move to Rifle to help with the family ranch. I have been sporadically living in Rifle since 2020 to assist with helping them when they became co-owners of the Coulter Lake Guest Ranch in 2020. I have no idea how long I’ll be there but I’m anticipating it’s going to be a very long time, at least a year and a half. I do plan on keeping my camping and getaway group active: https://www.meetup.com/colorado-campers/?eventOrigin=your_groups but I don’t believe anyone would travel to Garfield County to go hiking so if you’d like to take an occasional road trip and go camping between Rifle and Aspen I’ll probably do it. I could always schedule a weekend trip and you could camp in one of the barns or stables. Just joking! But I’m pretty torn up about losing one of my best friends who I’ve known since we were neighborhood brats and growing up together since elementary school.
When I was in a car accident in 2022 I stayed up there for a very long time to recover, rehabilitate, recuperate and do a lot of reflection and took care of their horses as well.
It’s too bad that U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo. had to close the doors of SHOOTERS GRILL, one of the only places in the U.S. you could order a cheeseburger, fries and a Pepsi from a server packing a 9mm pistol on her hip. With waitresses packing side arms Shooters was an alcohol free establishment.
Stan and I would spend a lot of time in Shooters talking to her. She was actually a really cool lady until she got into politics. But that was a long time ago it seems. I DID NOT VOTE FOR HER!!!
Anyway, I’m sorry I have to do this but our families are very close, they have helped me with my issues and I’m obligated and committed to helping with theirs.
As I said, I will probably schedule a few road trips in Garfield County and The Roaring Fork River Valley including Marble.
I’ll see you then,
Take care.
