This Release states that members attend events at their own risk, and release The Organizers, the assistant organizers and Meetup from any claims that may result in injury or death - THE CUB CREEK TRAIL: EVERGREEN, COLORADOCub Creek East Trailhead, Evergreen, CO
I am going to postpone the Rolling Creek Trail for this Saturday and replace it with the Cub Creek Trail near Evergreen, CO. The reason(s) are: I believe the driving distance to and from was a bit far to travel for an 8 mile hike and actually I was going to check out the campgrounds close by but that can wait down the road. Instead, I’d like to hike a portion of the Cub Creek Trail in Evergreen.
~Carpooling at the Fort located at http://thefort.com/mapdirections/ Meet at the Fort Parking lot at 8:00 and leave by 8:15. Watch your speed going through Morrison and look out for elk on the highways.
l won’t be carpooling. I’ll be checking out campsites for the future.
~Dogs are allowed on a leash~The stretch of the Cub Creek Trail we’ll be hiking is an easy to moderate trail with a few stretches of difficulty with a starting elevation of 8, 368 ft and an elevation gain of 700-800 ft (depending how far we hike) We usually hike by a set time of 2 hours one way and return the same way. There are no destination signs or junctions, the closest being the Indian Creek junction.
~In a few weeks I’ll be posting a hike on the other side of the mountain on the Meridian Trail which connects with The Cub Creek Trail and others. There is also the Meridian Campground I may be attaching to the Meridian Hike.
~DESCRIPTION: This hike takes you through open aspen glades and thick lodgepole pine forests. The Cub Creek Trail, in combination with intersecting trails, provides a number of loop hikes of varying lengths in the Upper Bear Creek basin. The trail traverses varied terrain, crossing glacial moraines, through open country of old burns and into dense, quiet forest with open spaces through the trees where you’ll be able to view the Front Range, including Mount Blue Sky (formerly Mount Evans) and parts of the Evans Wilderness. The trail also offers views of Shadow Mountain and the Upper Bear Creek Basin. Additionally, the trail passes through a forest and provides potential wildlife sightings.
~MEMBERS FROM BOTH: https://www.meetup.com/colorado-trail/ AND https://www.meetup.com/hittinthetrails/?eventOrigin=your_groups WILL BE ATTENDING THIS HIKE!
~This Release states that members attend events at their own risk, and release The Organizers, the assistant organizers and Meetup from any claims that may result in injury or death
~Bring an extra pair of socks.
I look forward to hiking with you.
Drive Safe…especially if you’re going through Morrison!

Subject: Allenspark Disperse Camping MVUMsHello Don,
We spoke on the phone about dispersed camping. I have attached the PDF and copied the link to the Motor Vehicle Use Map for the north half of the Boulder Ranger District, which includes roads near Allenspark: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd522665.pdf . Areas that allow dispersed camping right off the road will have small dots alongside the road which shows where you are legally allowed to disperse camp (though it might or might not be a good spot). Near Allenspark, the only roads that allow dispersed camping are FS roads 330.1 (road should open after May 15th) and FS Road 116.1 and 116.2 . This map will also show which forest road is close seasonally as well as share their date of operations. Many of the seasonal roads (highlighted in gray) will open after May 15th. I believe the road they are calling Ski road is 107 on the map, you can see how further down that road there are plenty of options for dispersed camping. The road is currently open, however we do not have conditions for that road, so please be prepared to turn around or have a backup option just in case.
