Background:
In 2022, Colorado became the first state to decriminalize the personal use of
psilocybin mushrooms and certain plant-based psychedelics for adults 21+.
Then in 2025, the state launched its groundbreaking psilocybin therapy
program, allowing integration of psychedelic healing with other healthcare
modalities. Creative approaches to healing and transformation have emerged
across the state in the wake of these changes. The 2026 iteration of the
Aspen Psychedelic Symposium expands beyond the realm of individual
healing, exploring opportunities to reimagine the systems and frameworks that
structure our daily lives – in areas such as healthcare, research, relational
organizing, food systems, and how we talk to our kids.
