Test/Break - two new artists prototyping two new projects!

Details

Test/Break returns Wednesday, March 24th at 2:30pm EST time!

We'll be testing new works by...

THE ARTISTS
Double Take Labs is an experience design studio by creative technologist Josh Corn and designer Eden Lew. With a touch of absurdity, we craft installations, robots, performances and exhibitions, and we’re constantly experimenting with new ways to make audiences take a second look.

THE PROJECT
Field Day Games is an invitation for people frustrated by remoteness, to let off some steam by causing actual chaos in our studio space. Played live over a video conference call, teams compete in real-time, screen-based games to spill, break, and set fire to parts of our studio space. Instead of tests of strength and coordination usually found in games played out on a field, these challenges depend on each individual’s finger dexterity and the speed and stability of their internet connection.

THE ARTIST
James Scruggs is a writer, performer, producer and arts administrator who creates multi-media performance pieces, often virtual, fully immersive and interactive; focused on topical incidents, race, racism, supremacy, and gender politics. He’s received several grants, and awards, including 2- Rockefeller Foundation Multi-Arts Production (MAP) Fund Grants, and a Creative Capital Grant to create performance works staged in NYC. He’s currently collaborating with Rattlestick Theater creating Bravado, a virtual work exploring viruses, 9/11 and mortality. www.jamesscruggs.com

THE PROJECT
BRAVADO is an interactive trans media piece exploring mortality and how the metaphorical virus of Hate spilled-over into hearts and minds becoming the inspirational engine of the 9/11 disaster. Audience members will experience Bravado virtually in their own homes using their own internet device. We hope to premiere it on the 20 th anniversary of 9/11 on September 11th , 2021.
