PROJECT
Severe Clear is largely an interactive story about choices; no matter how minor or how great, you must make choices each and every minute that passes. The irony of life is that it is a one-way journey. You cannot go back, you cannot make comparisons by trying one way and then another. Severe Clear is also about how we witness life and how we process the thought of the natural end of our lives, our own death, awkwardly. We were greatly affected by the 9/11 catastrophe. Death at that scale was unthinkable. The twin towers crumbling from an act of war was unthinkable. My mother intimately understood that death was a part of life and strived to instill that acceptance into me. Severe Clear is my story.

PROJECT
THIS OCEAN BETWEEN is a story circus. "What is a story circus?" you wonder. "Well, that's just it!" I respond. It is a place for wondering. For wandering. For wondering and wandering about and through stories and what they can be. In other words, THIS OCEAN BETWEEN is an immersive place and an immersive practice built to support writing and reading in a more instinctual, imaginative, multilinear and performative way.
ARTIST
Olivia Powell is a writer, artist and director who wonders what else stories can be and do. Embracing a poetic sensibility, she experiments across narrative forms and creates works that are often described as “the bedtime stories that we forgot to tell.” Olivia has a background in film and theatre, an MA in digital storytelling, and a passion for exploring story development processes that are experimental, instinctual, imaginative and accessible. In 2020, her co-devised short film, M.A.R.Y., was shortlisted for the international Lumen Prize, and in 2021, her VR writing performance, With words that don’t exist, featured at the VoxLab theatre residency at Dartmouth College.
