-->Check in at 8:30. (How you're doing.)
-->Silent meditation, seated on cushion, chair, or one of the pews.
-->Dharma talk from either Thay Kozen or one of five other teachers. (Buddhist teaching on how to alleviate suffering and promote happiness and peace.)
-->Metta practice. (Loving kindness.)
-->Sutra recitation and discussion. (Sutras are the written Dharma teachings.)
-->Much love and laughter.
WHO IS WELCOME?
No experience needed. Open to those of all faiths of lack thereof.
First-timers especially welcome. The Mount Adams Thiền Buddhist Temple is small country temple with both Northern & Southern Chan (Thiền) traditions.
MISSION
Our mission is to work towards the cessation of suffering by providing Meditation and Dharma (the teachings) education and support for our community.
THAY KOZEN
The service is lead by Venerable Thich Minh Tinh (Thay Kozen). Thich Minh Tinh has been transmitted in the Vietnamese Rinzai Zen line of Thich Thien An and Thich An Giao.
In addition he has studied in Japan with Nanrei Kabori Roshi, then in the US with Soyu Mastsuoka Roshi, then in Japan with Doki Suda Roshi. Matsuoka Roshi later transmitted Kozen after a period of time as the Long Beach Zen Center’s administrative assistant.
It is under Matsuoka Roshi’s and Thich An Giao’s request that Kozen teaches and maintains a temple and teaches . Saito Roshi from Japan, has been a mentor and dear friend and teacher. Saito Roshi and Kozen were both student priests over 40 years ago in Southern Japan. They worked and studied together at a large temple.

MASTER DOGEN’S REMINDER

Life and death are of supreme importance.
Time swiftly passes by
and with it our only chance.
Each of us must aspire to awaken.
Be aware: do not squander your life.
