As software engineering practices are ever evolving with new architectural principles, let’s address the monophant in the room… Mono repos. Though not a new concept, there are several modern ideals around how frontend architects ands engineers utilize tooling to build robust codebases in a single repo. There are numerous challenges to over come, which is what this talk is about, from picking a mono repo manager, configurations, dependency managers, deployment and testing.

About John Baltes
Howdy, my name is John Baltes, I have been a software developer for 5 years. I went to Sinclair Community College in Dayton where I studied Geography and Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S). I moved to Columbus 8 years ago to attend THE Ohio State University to continue my journey in G.I.S.. I eventually ran into this scary thing called programming, which I had little exposure to at the time. I did what any adventurous person would do and decided to sign up for a coding bootcamp with We Can Code IT, where I was trained in an agile environment to be a ‘full stack’ Java developer. After completing bootcamp I was so fascinated with programming I decided to take a position at Nationwide Insurance where I worked on numerous projects, from mobile to security. I moved on to see what the startup world was like, survived a merger and a layoff and eventually landed at NetJets. Prior to NJ, I was always apprehensive of monorepos as I had been thought at my previous positions that micro services were the way of the future… As you can see I have changed my viewpoint and am hear to talk about mono repos.
