What we’re about

We are hoping to return This summer!
Unfortunately I was hit by a car in May of 2021 and have been in physical therapy for a year. I am starting to get back to be able to move comfortably again. Thank you all for your patience.

More than ever before, we are living in a time where being able to defend yourself, your family, your property and your rights is critical. No one wants to live in fear, but how?  When the news shows just how bad things can get everyday, how do you keep from living in fear?  We offer one possible solution.
WE BELIEVE THAT BY EMPOWERING GOOD PEOPLE WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES, OUR COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD.
BE PREPARED.  It doesn't take a lifetime or even years.  We prepare our students to survive potentially catastrophic situations involving everything from armed assailants to active shooter and disasters.  During the process our students find courage, self worth, personal power and freedom from fear.
Combat Training for Self Defense is not a sport, nor is it about scoring points or submissions. It is personal combat. It is hand-to-hand techniques used to escape an attacker, secure a perpetrator, or maim or kill an assailant intending bodily harm or death.

Very few schools, books, or videos deal specifically with this kind of personal combat. Most discuss grappling techniques. But no one should intentionally end up rolling around on the ground with an opponent! Too many self-defense programs (such as Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Boxing) emphasize punching over palm strikes, hammer fists, and joint strikes. However, unless you have years of experience in punching, you are far more likely to break the small bones in your fingers with a punch than inflict serious damage on an opponent.
For that reason, George Cassell started teaching his own style of martial arts – Way of the Beast – in 1990. His techniques, comments, and opinions are based on his years of training and research – which continue to evolve. He is not only a professional instructor of martial arts – a sifu; he is also a Shi zu, progenitor or founder of his own style of martial arts, Way of the Beast.
In his classes, you will learn the about the five critical elements of self-defense derived from the best fighting systems in the world. You will learn how to defend yourself in the event of an attack, you will discover your own personal power, and you will have fun. As one of his students says, “Come to class expecting equal parts over-the-top humor and mind blowing amounts of information …. Once you join, you are never alone on your journey ever again.” Another adds that George “has created a place where his students become family.”
