Come Join Us for a Ramapo Mountain hike with some trails less traveled. We will need to start this one early, due to the length of the hike, hotter weather and limited parking.
We will meet in the lower skyline parking lot by 8am and leave promptly at 8:10. We then will hike both marked and unmarked trails to the upper Skyline parking lot arriving by 9am. Those preferring a shorter 5.1 mile hike, can meet up with us there but arrive early, since that parking lot has limited spaces. The full hike is considered difficult mostly due to the long length.
This hike consists of 2 vistas, views of Todd, Tamarack and Vreeland lakes. We will pass through a boys scout camp and enjoy views of the painted forest from Matapan rock. As we return to the lower lot we will pass one of two stone towers and a scenic view of Ramapo Lake. Afterwards, we can meet at the local diner or resturant if people feel like grabbing a bite.
Elevation Gain = approx. 760ft
Difficulty = moderate to hard
Pace = 2 to 2.5 mph
Full Length = 4 to 5hrs
Required = Hiking boots, Water
