Kayak, Canoe, Paddle Board on Carnegie Lake

Details

For this coming weekend’s paddle, I’m scheduling a return to Carnegie Lake. The last time we came here we did the section of the D&R Canal that runs along the eastern side of the Lake since it was, especially for first-timers, any easy entry and exit from the kayaks with the help of the rental crew. This time we’ll do the actual Lake itself which involves paddling over to another dock, getting out of the kayaks or paddle boards and then portage (carry) them over a short bit of “terra firma” (about 10 meters) and then re-entering our kayaks from another dock on the side of the Lake, all without the help of the rental crew. So, sign up for this event only if you feel you can handle doing all this. It’s not really difficult but can be daunting for first-timers.

Meet up time is 10:30 AM at Princeton Canoe and Kayak Rental. There is a parking lot directly across the road from the entrance but it does fill up on the weekends so you may have to park somewhere along the road. Anyone who needs to, can rent a kayak or canoe here (paddle boards are not available), and anyone using an INFLATABLE kayak or paddle board can do his/her inflating. So, everyone should be in the water and ready to go by 11:00 AM.

Special aviso to veteran kayakers or paddleboarders: please be mindful of the fact that you are joining in on a group event... we're doing something together as a group. Some of our group, especially first-timers, may take a little longer to get geared up and into the water. Please be patient and considerate enough to wait... don’t get ants – or eels – in your pants and take off as soon as you get into the water and leave everyone else behind! That’s not very sociable or SAFE as the event host - and everyone else - has no idea where you've gone and won't be able to help you out if you get into some kind of trouble. It's also a lot more FUN if we all stay together as a group, O.K.? Thanks for listening...

We’ll do a nice easy 2-hour circuit – about 3-4 miles. After we exit the water at about 1:00 pm, we can head over to Princeton to Chuck’s Spring Street Café or The Nassau Diner for some re-energizing and socializing. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can provide assistance to others in carpooling or getting rented gear to the site of this event.

The max number of participants for this event 24. So, being that it is cross posted with another Meetup group, the RSVP limit for each group is 12. So, if you RSVP as “going” and change your plans, please be considerate of the people on the “waitlist” and update your RSVP (to "not going") ASAP so that the next person in line can get the spot you vacated and go… thanks.

As always, attendance at this and all other Meetup events, is at the risk of the attendee who waives all rights to hold any and all event hosts, organizers and leaders liable for any injury, loss or damage sustained in the event of any accident or mishap.
