Movie Night! – RRR (Remembering Robert Redford)

Your organizer and host for this event had been asked more than a few times by several members of this group when he would start organizing and hosting “nights at the movies” again and though, being the “flick freak” that he is, he certainly did want to get back to doing these again, he’d been dragging his feet simply because he couldn’t come up with a good theme to start back up with again. Well, that theme has now presented itself most prominently with the passing, just a couple of days ago, of one of the most talented, influential, and certainly popular, personalities of Hollywood cinema – Robert Redford.

So, your host is organizing a commemoration of this great cinematic personality by hosting a double-bill of two of the most well-known and well-loved works in which he starred – “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “The Sting” – both of which co-starred his cinematic equal – and rivel – Paul Newman. The fact that they were both so talented – and so appealing – and worked so well together made these two “buddy movies” achieve the stature of being amongst the most well-known and well-appreciated in the history of Hollywood cinema.

Those who RSVP may attend both movies or only one or the other. Here is the screening schedule:

Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid: 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Intermission: 6:00 – 6:30 pm
The Sting: 6:30 – 8:45 pm

Plenty of free popcorn will be provided by the host and members of the audience are encouraged to bring a potluck of finger-foods, snacks and beverages (alcoholic and non) to share. A collection for pizza delivery can also be taken during the intermission. The approximate location of the “home theater” is in Monroe Township nine miles east of Princeton. The exact address will be sent by PM to those on the “going” list 24 hours before the start of the event.

Your host looks forward to sharing with some of you this bittersweet reminiscence of some of the finest - and most entertaining - work performed by one of Hollywood’s most iconic personalities who will live on eternally up there on the silver screen… see you “at the movies…”
