We did a similar one in the spring, but I think the fall foliage views are even better. This HALF circle hike is around 7 miles, including additional points of interest. For the most part, it is considered a STRENUOUS hike due to the long steady up and down, high elevation hills, so it is, NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS. We will need to carpool to see the sculpture trail and perform the half circle.

We will meet at the Stonetown Recreation Center at 10:45 where there should be ample parking. We will then carpool up to the sculpture trail located on a private street 2.5 miles away and park a few vehicles there. Depending on how many people join, we may need up to 5 volunteers to carpool.

The hike begins with the 1/2 mile sculpture trail viewing a variety of primarily metal sculptures. Next, we will visit a few additional and unusual points of interest and finally begin the trek to and up Board Mountain with a great view of the Monksville reservoir. Then continue on the Stonetown circle trail to scale 3 other mountains, two with great foliage views. We will end back at the Recreation Center where we started. Afterward, we can get a bite to eat if there is interest.

The 4 mountains range from 740ft to 1040ft with 1400ft or more elevation gain. Hiking boots are needed, and poles are highly recommended.
Pace= about 2.0 mph average, slower on hills, and faster on level ground. We will take short breaks along the way and especially on the mountain peaks.
