Paddling on the D&R Canal Eastern Side of Carnegie Lake
Details
For this paddling event, we’ll do the section of the D&R Canal that runs along the eastern side of Carnegie Lake. We’ll meet up at Princeton Canoe and Kayak Rental on Alexander Rd. This place is usually pretty packed on the weekends but being that it will be the day before the 4th of July, your host is hoping that many folks will be outta town for the holiday so it’ll be less crowded than usual. There is a parking lot directly across from the entrance on Alexander Rd but, it does fill up so you may have to park somewhere along the road. Meetup time is 10:30 AM. We’ll take a half-hour for everyone to do what they need to get into the water. So, anyone who needs to rent a kayak or canoe (paddle boards are not available) or INFLATE an inflatable can do so at this time. We should all be in the water and ready to go by 11:00 AM.
When you do get in the water, please be mindful that this is a GROUP EVENT and be courteous and considerate enough to WAIT for everyone else to get into the water – don't just take off on your own like an impatient little kid. The plan is to do a total round trip on the canal of two hours (a distance of about 3 miles) so it is especially important to stay together as a group so that the renters don’t get back late and get charged overtime.
After we exit the water at about 1:00 pm, we can head over to Hiro Asian Bistro or Pho Today in Plainsboro Village for some re-energizing and socializing. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can provide assistance to others in carpooling or getting their gear to the site of this event.
This event is cross-posted with another Meetup group and the max number of participants for each is 12 (this number may be adjusted upwards depending on the number of RSVP's in the other group). As usual, if you end up on the “going” list and change your plans, please be considerate of the people on the “waitlist” and update your RSVP to "not going" ASAP so that the next person in line can get the spot you vacated… thanks.
As always, attendance at this and all other Meetup events, is at the risk of the attendee who waives all rights to hold any and all event hosts, organizers and leaders liable for any injury, loss or damage sustained in the event of any accident or mishap.
