Kayak, Canoe, Paddle Board on Farrington Lake

After rocketing up out of the launch pad at the beginning of summer, interest in paddling events appears to be “burning out” now… and it’s only the middle of the season. The event host is happy to post one more paddling event to see if there’s still any interest out there before “throwing in the towel” on any further ones…
For this paddle outing, we’ll be going to the host’s favorite site, Farrington Lake in North Brunswick. It’s bigger and even more scenic than Lake Lefferts but not as big, and so, calmer and more manageable than Carnegie Lake. There’s no rental facility here, so, you’ll have to have your own kayak, canoe or paddle board (here’s one for a little over $100! At the usual rental rate of $50 for 2 hrs., it’ll be paid for after two uses). Or, you can rent one here:

We’ll do one complete circuit of the lower lake, a distance of about 3 miles, which will take about 2 hours. After the paddle, we’ll head over to Lory’s Lakeside for some refreshing food, drink and socializing.
Meet up point will be the parking lot of the Farrington Lake Small Boat Launch located on the southeast side of the lake at the intersection of Riva Ave and Church Ln (see the pin in the location map). The meet up time is 11:00 AM. Anyone using an INFLATABLE kayak or paddle board must arrive at least A HALF HOUR EARLY (10:30 AM) to inflate her/his watercraft and be ready to go at 11:00. It’s not fair to the other participants to make them wait around for her/him to do this. Also, please remember that this is a GROUP event and be considerate and PATIENT enough to wait for everyone to get into the water before taking off. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can provide assistance to others in carpooling or getting rented gear to the site of this event.
The max number of participants for this event is 24. So, being that it is cross posted with another Meetup group, the RSVP limit for each group is 12. If you RSVP as “going” and change your plans, please be considerate of the people on the “waitlist” and update your RSVP (to "not going") ASAP so that the next person in line can get the spot you vacated and go… thanks.
