Late Day Paddle on Farrington Lake (Upper Half) followed by Thai Dinner

The event host is so glad the paddling event last Sunday at Farrington Lake’s lower half (between the Church Ln and Hardenburg Ln bridges) went so well and all who participated appeared to have fully enjoyed themselves. And so, by popular demand, we’re going back to Farrington this coming Sunday to paddle the upper half (between Hardenburg Ln and the lake’s spillway).
Though not as crowded as some other recreational areas in NJ – like the Shore – Farrington can still get a bit congested on the weekends as those of us who were there last Sunday noted. So, to “beat the crowd”, we’ll meet up later in the day at 4:00 PM and do one complete circuit of the upper lake which is the same distance (about 3 miles) as the lower one. This will take, at our usual moderate pace, about 2 hours after which, for those who are interested, we’ll head over to the Thai Lotus bistro in the Church Lane Plaza on Rt. 130 for some socializing and an early dinner (about 6:00 PM).
Meet up point will be the parking lot of the “Lower Farrington Boat Ramp” (as it is labeled in Google Maps) located on the eastern end of the Hardenburg Ln bridge… the B2 Bistro & Bar is on the other (western) end of the bridge (see the pin in the location map). In the event that the small parking lot is full, after off-loading your watercraft, you’ll have to find parking either further up, or back down, Hardenburg Ln. There are no “public facilities” here which means no porta-potties… so, be sure to “go before you go”, eh? There’s no rental facility here either, so, you’ll have to have your own kayak, canoe or paddle board or you can rent one here:

The meet up time is 4:00 PM. Anyone using an INFLATABLE kayak or paddle board must arrive at least A HALF HOUR EARLY (3:30 PM) to inflate her/his watercraft and be ready to go at 4:00 PM. It’s not fair to the other participants to make them wait around for her/him to do this. Also, please remember that this is a GROUP event and be considerate and PATIENT enough to wait for everyone to get into the water before taking off. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can provide assistance to others in carpooling or getting rented gear to the site of this event.
The max number of participants for this event 24. So, being that it is cross posted with another Meetup group, the RSVP limit for each group is 12. If you RSVP as “going” and change your plans, please be considerate of the people on the “waitlist” and update your RSVP (to "not going") ASAP so that the next person in line can get the spot you vacated and go… thanks.
