What we're about

Comic Sans Script is Cheltenham's biggest improvised comedy group, free and open to all, regardless of ability. We have regular open (and advanced) workshops, practising making up scenes and characters on-the-spot from suggested words, to create scenes and play games in the style of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'.

We do also perform locally, and are veterans of Cheltenham, Birmingham and Bath Comedy Festivals. We'd love to have you pop along!

We operate three types of events:

1. Our FREE Wednesday beginners workshops. These operate on an 'intake cycle' basis, where you can join other beginners at the same time once a quarter, to learn basic improv skills and games over the following six weeks. Please try to attend all the sessions to make sure you get a solid grounding.

2. Regular workshops on Mondays and Wenesday for 'full members' (those who've completed our Beginners Workshop). On Mondays we rehearse 'longform improv' and on Wednesdays 'shortform improv'. We ask for a voluntary £3 per session to cover costs, and you can attend as you please, however we may request a certain regularity of attendee if we're covering a particular format for a few weeks.

3. Regular shows. We operate our 'main', quarterly(ish) paid show (performers subject to audition), and offer a 'supported show' format for everyone else who has completed a four-week intake cycle with us, where you can perform, supported by more experience improvisers. We also do ad-hoc gigs as requested at festivals and events.

Up The Antics take us down the rabbit hole of improvised sketch comedy. With the suggestion of a location, the antics will explore the characters and journeys taken to arrive there, with hilarious results.

We're excited to bring back our ImproJam comedy night in the Green Room of the Playhouse Theatre!

A relaxed unscripted comedy games night in the style of 'Whose Line is it Anyway', next Sunday 2nd April 2023 hosted by our fantastic James (the keeper of the jam!)
Come along and simply watch, enjoy and laugh, or try out your comedy skills on stage - all for the potential to win an outstanding jar of Jam!
As always it's FREE to attend!
There is the option for donations at the end so bring along some change to support our incredible acts!
But bring some change for the bucket collection at the end if you enjoy it! And the Bar is open for drinks and crisps.

Times: 7-9pm (doors from 7pm)
Location: The Green Room (second set of red doors to the right of the main theatre entrance, it's got the parking meter next to it, you can't miss it!)

Age limit? There may be some strong language or adult themes, so we advise PG (i.e bring a parent).
Cheltenham Improjam is an all-ability, open-to-all relaxed evening where improvisers from all over Cheltenham and the surrounding area can have have a crack at playing improv games, or just sit in the bar with a drink and watch the fun!
