BEGINNERS COMEDY IMPROV COURSE- starting January 14th at the Playhouse Theatre Cheltenham at 7:30pm!

FOR YOU? Want to take up a new interest in 2026 and want to develop the confidence to perform in front of others, creating funny characters and scenes? Ever wanted to dig deep into the science behind what makes improvised comedy funny? Like to learn from skilled, creative teachers? Or are you simply just looking to boost your self-confidence and improve your public speaking skills? Well, this could be for you..

Whether you know the genre from more modern shows like the growth of Dropout Comedy and ShootImpro on TikTok or you enjoy the classics of Whose Line is It Anyway & Mock the Week, Comic Sans script has a style for you!

With two weekly rehearsal spaces, monthly improv jams, and a growing improv scene in Cheltenham there has never been a greater time to get involved!

WHAT: We are running an improv comedy course on Wednesday nights for 6 weeks for people looking to sharpen their skills or for complete beginners!

WHO: At Comic Sans Script we believe that Improv Comedy is for everyone. We aim to create an environment free of judgment and space where you can be yourself no matter if you are seasoned performer or completely new. Even if you’ve never stepped foot on a stage, you are more than welcome here!

We are proud to be an LGBTQ+ Inclusive space and welcome people from all gender identities and sexual orientations into our spaces.

WHEN: Starts WEDNESDAY January 14th at 7:30pm, then ongoing on following Wednesday evenings for 6 weeks.

WHERE: Our workshops will take place at The Cheltenham Playhouse. Please be aware that the workshops may require the use of a flight of stairs depending on room availability.

HOW MUCH: £5 a session! We are happy for you to pay weekly or if you’d prefer to pay in one sum that is absolutely fine.

SIGNING UP:Please sign up here on via Meetup. We will have a quick conversation to check you are eligible (eg. If under 18 you must be at least 16, and be accompanied by a parent for the whole session) & asking for your level of Improv experience, If you fit the criteria we will supply bank account details for the first session. AFTER THE COURSE: Our sessions run all year on Wednesdays so you are welcome to keep attending for as long as you like once the course has been completed – feel free to ask any of our members for more details!
