Details

We spend our lives moving forwards — toward the next thing, the next goal, the next moment. This walk does something deliberately different.

For one hour, we walk backwards. In pairs. Taking turns to move and to guide. It sounds simple. It isn't — and that's exactly the point.

When you can't see where you're going, something shifts. Your attention sharpens. Your body wakes up. You become — perhaps for the first time in a while — genuinely present in the moment you're actually in.

The experience is equal parts unsettling and liberating. Most people laugh. Most people also surprise themselves.

How it works
We open with 5 minutes of solo backwards walking — finding your footing. Then we pair up and rotate every 10 minutes across 4 rounds. One person walks backwards while the other guides. Then you switch. Four rounds, four different partners, one shared experience of navigating the unknown together.

The guiding role is as interesting as the walking role. Being responsible for someone else's path asks something of you too.

The conversation
Afterwards, we settle in for a 60-minute moderated conversation. We'll explore what the experience stirred up: trust, disorientation, autopilot, and what it means to move through life when you can't always see what's ahead.

Expect honesty. Expect a little laughter. Expect to leave with something to think about.

What to bring
💧 Water or a drink to rehydrate
🧺 A picnic mat or towel for the conversation session

This event is part of the Coming Home Walking Series — four distinct walks, one for each Sunday of the month, each with its own intention and format. Together they form a practice: of moving with awareness, of showing up for your body, and of building genuine connection with others who take that seriously. Whether you join one or all four, you're part of something ongoing.
