Community Bucket Volunteers with Piney Grove Cemetery

Come out and volunteer with us at Piney Grove Cemetery then catch up with your new crew afterwards.

Join us on Saturday, December 6th at 9am as we volunteer with Piney Grove Cemetery. Piney Grove Cemetery is a historic black cemetery that has been unfortunately neglected through the years. We will be working with the community to clean and beautify the overgrown site. The address of the event is 834 Canterbury Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30324.

This will be the final Piney Grove clean up of 2025!

Please note: There is no public road access to the cemetery. Canterbury Road dead ends at the front gate of the Bluffs at Lenox. To the right of the gate there is a grassy lane that takes you to the cemetery. We will have someone from Community Bucket waiting by the beginning of the road. Volunteers should park on Canterbury or Pine Tree Road (to the left at the end of Canterbury).

After be sure to join us at Little Rey (1878 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324 ) from 11:30 am - 12:30pm.

Please wear pants, close toe shoes, bring water, bug spray etc. This event will be taking place outside with overgrown shrubbery. If you have extra gloves or gardening tools, please bring as well.

About Piney Grove Cemetery:
Piney Grove Cemetery is considered the last remaining historic landmark of Piney Grove, the former African-American community or settlement located in Buckhead that may date back as far as the mid-1820s.
