Held at The Clarion Performing Arts Center on 2 Waverly Pl, San Francisco.
COMMUNITY CINEMA is a space for artists and movie-lovers to gather together and watch local films made in the Bay Area.
Community Cinema attracts many residents of Chinatown, Nob Hill, North Beach and other neighboring districts, as well as college students and young working professionals in the city.
Films shown at Community Cinema range from documentary films about gender, sexuality, war, politics, poetry and arts, to narrative films like rom-com, action thriller and etc.
Since its launch in May 2021, Community Cinema has screened 47 films, and counting! We are grateful to have collaborated with amazing filmmakers like Emmy-Nominated director James Q. Chan, Vietnamese filmmakers Ngoc Le and Tam Ngo and Henry Rosenthal.
Meet Community Cinema Curator, Jeff Giordano
Jeff M. Giordano has curated film series on both coasts of the United States. Since 2004, he has been directing independent documentaries and has interviewed over 180 people for various projects.
In addition to filmmaking, Giordano paints abstract-expressionist art and collaborates on musical projects. A documentary about the January 21,22,23 Trips Festival held at San Francisco's Longshoremen's Hall. It has historic footage by Ben Van Meter, still photos by Jim Marshall, and Gene Anthony. Interviews include Bob Weir, Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia, Jerry Garcia, and organizers Bill Graham, Ken Kesey, Stewart Brand, Roland Jacopetti, and Ramon Sender. The story tells not only what happened that night but the impact it had on the evolving culture.

Director Bio:
Eric Christensen began his career working for Tom Donahue at Autumn Records with the Beau Brummels and Sly Stewart. He then went on to become program director at KSFX in San Francisco, at age 21, the youngest in ABC's history. He produced films for Bill Graham, including the Day on the Green with Peter Frampton, Lynnrd Skynnrd, and Santana. He then worked at KGO TV for 36 years as an arts and entertainment and sports producer. He retired in 2007 and went on to produce and direct documentaries: the Trips Festival, The Cover Story - Album Art, Korla, and Something in the Air (about Tom Donahue and KMPX and KSAN).
