What we’re about

www.communitymeditation.net

Learn to meditate or join an easygoing and kind group for regular meditation.  Come and go as you wish, no commitment or cost – and we are a registered charitable organization.

After meditation, you can stay (or not) for talks/readings/discussions, on a wide range of subjects related to awareness, mindfulness, meditation and Buddhism –we tend to focus on the practical application of wisdom teachings to our actual lives.  Total session time is 1hr 15 min.

It's all free, though there is a donation option on our website if you are able to help support us.  We also offer programs on topics such as mindful parenting, 'awake at work', basics of Buddhism, and more -- see our website for current offerings.

Our regular meditation and instruction are mostly online on ZOOM now, with the exception of Owen Sound, which meets in person on Thursday evenings at 7pm

Our regular online sittings are held at the following times:
Sunday mornings at 10:15 to 11:30 am
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7:15 to 8:30 pm
Zoom opens 15 minutes early for people to gather and chat, if they wish.

About us:

Community Meditation is a non-profit community online with participants all over North America and occasionally beyond.  We offer free meditation instruction and  group meditation sittings online five times a week plus in person in Owen Sound. We bring meditation and mindfulness into people’s lives through courses, meditation sittings and group discussions. By sharing the benefits of mindfulness and awareness, we aim to support the evolution of a wise, caring, and healthy world.

Our network has existed for over 15 years and was previously affiliated with the Shambhala organization.  Our teachers and facilitators include long-time teachers formally trained and authorized within other traditions.  Our roots are Buddhist, but we draw on many wisdom traditions as well as contemporary psychology and neuroscience. Community Meditation is completely volunteer-based and guided by a council of experienced teachers.
