It's a new year and I'm going to add a new reoccurring event to the calendar-Getting to Know Our Neighborhoods!! If folks show up and enjoy these walks, we will post them hopefully once a month. Each walk will be about 2 miles and will explore a different neighborhood in our area. I will be using the book Walking Cincinnati as well as several other history books to create fun, educational walks where we can socialize and learn about our community.

Expect a slower pace with a few stops to discuss the history of the area, famous people, or other fun facts that make the area fascinating! We'll note local small businesses you can support and always attempt to have a meal after the walk at a local food spot.

Our first walk will be Newport, mostly because it's one of my favorite areas to walk and it is full of fun and fascinating history, including mob stories, learn about famous celebrities you hand no idea hung out here, and good just some good solid history. We will also see many types of architecture, long running local businesses, and the Peace Bell. Afterwards, we will have lunch at long time local business Dixie Chili, where you can taste their famous chili (vegetarian available), have a double decker, salad, or gyro.

The walk will be easy and flat perfect for beginners and photobugs. (Hint: Bring your cameras!!) Doggos always welcome.

Meet at the corner of York and 8th (McCollums on York) at 11am. There is lots of street parking. There is also a garage at 7th and York. Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Currently, should be a beautiful day.
