About us
Welcome to the Composting Collective. We started this group as a way to bring together people who want to reduce their household waste and return nutrients to the soil, whether you are a seasoned composter or just trying to figure out where to start. Our goal is to create a space where we can share tips, troubleshoot common issues like pests or odors, and help each other make composting a manageable part of our daily routines.
We hold regular meetups to talk through different methods, such as vermicomposting, bokashi, or traditional backyard piles, and we often swap materials or advice on how to keep things running smoothly. This is a very casual, hands-on community, so please bring your questions and your experiences. Whether you have a large garden or a small apartment balcony, we would love to have you join us as we work toward a greener way of living.

Virginia Beach Composting Collective Open Practice Workshop
virginia beach 239, virginia beach, VA, USWe are getting together for a hands-on workshop to talk about the basics of composting here in Virginia Beach. Whether you have been curious about starting your own pile at home or you are already composting and want to troubleshoot a few issues, this is a space to share what works and what does not. We will spend some time discussing the local climate, what materials are best to use, and how to keep things balanced throughout the seasons.
This event is open to everyone, regardless of your experience level or the size of your backyard. The goal is to learn from each other and make the process feel a little less intimidating. Please feel free to bring any specific questions you have about your own setup or just come ready to chat with fellow neighbors who are interested in reducing waste. It would be great to get a sense of how many people are coming, so please go ahead and RSVP if you think you can make it.
