What we’re about
Comrade Collective Book Club
Revolutionary, abolitionist, and anti-colonial readings.
Private group — new members must request to join and answer a few questions.
This is an in-person book club for people who want to engage seriously with revolutionary, abolitionist, and anti-colonial texts. We read books cover to cover at a humane pace and meet to discuss, reflect, and build understanding together. Readings include works on colonialism, abolition, liberation movements, and revolutionary thought across global contexts. Prior experience with theory is not required, and the group is intentionally welcoming to people who struggle with reading, attention, or comprehension — we value patience, curiosity, and mutual respect.
This is a space for praxis-oriented learners who want to explore revolutionary, anti-colonial, and abolitionist texts in ways that inform understanding and action. It is not a debate forum or a place to quote theory for show. The emphasis is on collective learning, historical context, and grounded discussion.
How it works:
• Books are read individually between meetings
• We discuss together in a supportive, discussion-based format
• Readings are chosen intentionally and announced in advance
• This group is organizer-facilitated to keep focus and accessibility
Our first book:
American Holocaust by David E. Stannard
If you’re looking for a serious, grounded space to read and discuss revolutionary and abolitionist work — without performative radicalism or endless debate — you’re in the right place.
Respectful participation is required. Disruptive behavior or debate-seeking will not be tolerated.
Respectful participation means engaging with the material and with one another in good faith. Members are welcome to speak, listen, or simply observe. Listening attentively, respecting others’ experiences, and allowing space for different levels of comfort are all valued forms of participation.
