Please join CoNav for some orienteering event on a new(ly mapped) part of the USAFA cadet area!

This will be structured like a competition, but in a fun, relaxed sort of way - there will be no timing or scoring, and no reporting of results. Groups are free to manage their own scoring, if desired.

You'll have your choice of Beginner, Intermediate, and/or Advances courses on mostly undeveloped terrain in the east and southern areas of the greater (outer) cadet area.

Course Details (all approx and subject to some change):
Yellow (Advanced Beginner): 1.9km, 25m gross climb
Orange (Intermediate): 2.8km, 50m gross climb
Green* (Advanced): 4.6km, 155m climb
Red (Advanced): 5.6km, 165m climb
*Green is basically a shortened Red course. Feel free to do one in reverse order if you want to do both.

Everyone is welcome, but little or no instruction will be offered. I will have DIY instructional sheets on-hand to help beginners get up to speed.

Please separately register each and every person going out on a course, regardless of age or relationship using EventReg. No login or other fuss required. You're welcome to RSVP on Meetup, but you must still register on EventReg to be registered.

Children 12 and younger accompanied by a fully registered parent/legal guardian are FREE, but each still must have a waiver signed by their
Parent or Legal Guardian.

Fees
Through 26th April, 8pm:

  • $5 for USAFA Cadets, Prep School and AAHS students, staff, faculty, active military, and USAFA employees.
  • $10 for the Public 13yo+.

After 26th April 8pm (online or day-of):

  • $15 for everyone 13yo+.

Please park in the lot at 39.013, -104.882 and walk about 200m due south (through Cadet parking) to the HQ area.

US Citizens and Permanent Residents can access USAFA via the North Gate by showing their current driver's license. Others please contact the registrar (me) ASAP. There is a process for which there may be insufficient between now and the event date.

Well-behaved dogs are allowed at this USAFA event. They must be leashed at all times, and owners must pick-up and remove their dog’s waste (please do not use the restroom trash bins for dog waste). Dogs are not allowed on Stillman Parade Ground (the huge, flat, mowed area S of meet HQ) or on any part of the athletic fields area.

FYI, the nearest dog parks appear to be Rampart Dog Park and the Fox Run Dog Park. I don’t recall having found any goathead thorns in my boots, but there is a fair bit of prickly pear cactus around.

Lastly, I'll issue full refunds to any registrant who cancels by email to conavgames@gmail.com no later than 8pm on Friday the 28th. I won't ack your email, and please allow a few days for the refund to come through.

Thank you!
