Details

One of the best hikes in CT with great views and varied sections but also challenging with some rocky terrain, significant elevation gain and faster pace.

6.5 Miles
1400 Feet Elevation Gain
Pace 2.5 mph

Hike commences alongside picturesque Mirror Lake with water fountains and up a carriage road which allows for a nice warm up. Once across the pedestrian bridge over 691 the uphill push begins leading to the infamous demanding Goat Path, which leads to West Peak. After pausing to enjoy the expansive views and catching our breath, we pick up the pace descending on a lovely high forest path. Our second big climb takes us up the very appealing blue trail which affords beautiful views of Merimere Reservoir and South Mountain. Pass Castle Craig with an option to add an additional 36 feet to our elevation! Proceed past the cliffs and descend to the carriage road.

Let's assemble at the large parking lot approximately half way around Mirror Lake.

No Dogs. No Minors. No Beginners.
