Hotchkiss-Fyler House Museum

Details
The Hotchkiss-Fyler House was commissioned by Torrington resident Orsamus Fyler in 1897 and completed in 1900. Orsamus, his wife Mary, and their daughter and son-in-law Gertrude and Edward Hotchkiss lived in the home. The residence remained in the family until the last occupant, Gertrude Fyler Hotchkiss, died in 1956 and bequeathed the property to the Torrington Historical Society.
The home was built in the Queen Anne Victorian style and features fine woodwork, stenciled walls, murals, and original family furnishings.
Also located on the site is the Torrington History Museum, which includes many local artifacts - as well as an exhibit which traces the history of the Hendey Machine Company.
Just us for a PRIVATE TOUR of the house. You can also take a self-guided tour of the history museum.
EVENT FEE:
$12.00 (MUST BE PAID ON MEETUP with your RSVP) - this fee covers the cost of our tour, our raffle prize, PayPal fees and Meetup expenses.
RAFFLE PRIZE:
Everyone who attends will get a raffle ticket. At the start of our event we'll raffle off a SPECIAL PRIZE to one participant! Winner must be present to claim their prize.
NO WAITING LIST:
Meetup does not allow waiting lists for paid events, so if we run out of room, we'll send an e-mail notification if/when spots open up. These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
PARKING:
There should be plenty of parking in the museum lot. Pull in the driveway between the two historic buildings and park in the back. The entrance to the museum is at the back door (where we'll meet before our tour).
