Details

The American Museum of Tort Law, which opened in 2015, is the first law museum in the United States. It was founded by Ralph Nader in his hometown of Winsted, CT.

The museum was conceived to educate, inform and inspire American citizens about tort law, the law of wrongful injuries, and trial by jury, an important right guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.

One of the famous tort law cases on display is that of the Ford Pinto, which became infamous in the 1970s for bursting into flames if its gas tank was ruptured in a collision.
