Details

Oliver Ellsworth (b. 1745 – d. 1807) was a Founding Father of the United States. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Revolutionary War, a framer of the US Constitution, a US senator from Connecticut, and the third chief justice of the United States (nominated by George Washington).

His home in Windsor, built in 1781, is a two-story wood-frame building on a stone foundation. It has the distinction of being visited by two sitting Presidents - George Washington in 1789, and John Adams in 1799.

Continuously occupied by the Ellsworth family until 1903, it was deeded to the Daughters of the American Revolution, who manage the property and run a museum on the site. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Join us for a GUIDED TOUR of this unique historical home and learn the story of the Ellsworth family.
