Why Connection Feels Harder in Adult Life and What to Do About It
Details
Many people reach a point in adult life where connection becomes harder than expected.
**This is an open session: a more accessible format with a larger group.
If you’re interested in a format with more time for reflection and interaction, and a smaller group, you’re welcome to explore one of the guided workshops.
This session filled up quickly last time, so I’m running it again.**
Friendships take more effort. Communities change. Life becomes busier and more fragmented. And it’s not always obvious where we truly belong.
This online session is part of The Connection Circle, a space to explore questions of connection, belonging, and community in modern life.
In this 45-minute guided talk, we’ll explore why connection often becomes more difficult as we get older and how we can begin to approach it more intentionally.
While friendships are often part of this conversation, connection can also relate to community, social belonging, romantic or family relationships, or simply feeling less alone in the world.
You’ll leave with a simple reflection exercise to help you better understand your own “connection landscape” and where you might want to focus your energy.
The session draws on ideas from The Reconnection Journey, a framework I use with coaching clients to help people move from disconnection to belonging.
What to expect
The session will run for around 45 minutes and will include:
• a short introduction to connection in adult life
• a simple framework to think about connection more intentionally
• a guided reflective exercise you can try during the session
• optional time for questions or reflections at the end
Participation
You are very welcome to simply listen.
Don’t worry: you won’t be put on the spot. This is a space you can simply come into, listen, and reflect.
To keep things smooth given the size of the event, the session will run more like a live talk:
• participants will be on mute
• you may be invited to share briefly in the chat at certain moments (optional)
There will be a few short moments for reflection during the session, with prompts to help you think about your own experience and take away something useful.
Cost
This session is free to attend.
