Pages to Progress - January: Atomic Habits by James Clear

Details
Almost none of us have the time to read everything we’d like to read, yet books hold pearls of wisdom that can positively impact our lives.
Welcome to the monthly book summary and workshop, where on the last Thursday of every month, I’ll distill the core concepts of a bestselling non-fiction book and lead you through interactive exercises that you can immediately apply to your life. The goal of these workshops is to pair knowledge with action.
You don’t need to read the book to attend the workshop!
For this month, on January 25th at 6:30 pm, the book is Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear. The book has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and provides a framework for getting 1% better every day.
Do you struggle with breaking bad habits that never seem to die?
Do you struggle to create and sustain good habits?
Do you struggle to keep going when life gets crazy?
From this workshop, you’ll walk away with:
- Systems for forming better habits, and breaking bad ones
- Tools and strategies for overcoming a lack of motivation and willpower
- An understanding of mistakes to avoid and how to get back on track
As a coach, I see many people that love to learn but struggle to integrate new ideas into their busy lives. They go to workshops, read books, and consume information which only provides a fleeting moment of inspiration.
The general format for this workshop will be as follows:
- I will teach one of the core concepts from the book.
- To retain learning, I will ask you to journal for 1-2 minutes on how the concept connects to your life
- You will break out into pairs/trios to discuss and go through exercises.
- Repeat
Things to bring:
- Ideas of which daily habits you’d like to create or break
- Journal and pen
- Water

Your facilitator:
Kamil is a certified life, leadership, and career exploration coach that helps people and leaders step into their authentic selves. Through his late twenties, Kamil lived a life primarily determined by the environment he grew up in and society's expectations. He fit the mold. It wasn't until he spent four years backpacking around the world, trying on different versions of himself and exploring different perspectives, that he felt empowered to pursue a life uniquely him. When Kamil shifted to helping others, he helped scale leadership development within organizations before moving to deeper one-on-one coaching relationships with his company and leadership coaching at CU Boulder. In his free time, Kamil is an introspective bookworm who spends time in nature without cellphone service, running ultramarathons, backpacking, or bikepacking. www.kamilskwarek.com
