Thoughtful Tuesdays - Biweekly Journaling Group

Details

Join us for a free biweekly journaling group designed for introspection and connection with other like-minded people in a casual and laid-back environment.

A journal is a private place. A space for thoughts, feelings, and experiences for the purpose of self-reflection and self-expression free from judgment. A journal can be many things:

  • A brain dump
  • A place to dream
  • An emotional outlet
  • A tool to deepen self-awareness
  • A practice of creative self-expression
  • A time to slow down and set intentions
  • A pressure release valve when life gets difficult

In other words, there’s no wrong or right way to journal. In these events, I’ll give you 30 minutes of unstructured journaling time. Writing is a wonderful way to ponder and process deeper topics that need more time.

I encourage you to be vulnerable on the page but only share what you’re comfortable with.

As we hear about the decisions, challenges, and successes of others, we learn about ourselves as we make pieces of their stories our own. We relate and connect.

I started this journaling group because, as an introvert, large events where you’re left to socialize with others have always left me drained. I longed for a deeper connection that went beneath the surface. This group will be a more intimate space that skips the small talk.

General format

  • 6 - 6:15pm: Arrive, settle in, and order a drink
  • 6:15pm: Writing warm-up — Gratitude journal prompt
  • Sharing with the group and introductions
  • 30 minutes of unstructured journaling — stream of consciousness or what you wish
  • Sharing with two different partners
  • After the event, some of us hang out and chat.

Bring a journal and a pen! Experienced journalers, those who want to get back into it, or first-time journalers are welcome. Sharing is encouraged but not required.

I’ve been hosting this group every two weeks since May 2023. Group sizes are usually between 5 - 10 people.

We'll be meeting at Tonic Alchemy Lounge! It's a cozy, intimate space with a wide variety of teas, tonics, desserts, and cocktails available.

Address: 2011 10th St, Boulder, CO 80302

"When we come together and share our stories, it expands our notion of what is possible. It changes the person telling the story, it changes whoever is listening to the story, and it changes how we understand our own story." - Al-Jen Pod

Your facilitator:

Kamil is a certified life, leadership, and career exploration coach that helps people and leaders step into their authentic selves. Through his late twenties, Kamil lived a life primarily determined by the environment he grew up in and society's expectations. He fit the mold. It wasn't until he spent four years backpacking around the world, trying on different versions of himself and exploring different perspectives, that he felt empowered to pursue a life uniquely him.

When Kamil shifted to helping others, he helped scale leadership development within organizations before moving to deeper one-on-one coaching relationships with his company and leadership coaching at CU Boulder. In his free time, Kamil is an introspective bookworm who spends time in nature without cellphone service, running ultramarathons, backpacking, or bikepacking. www.kamilskwarek.com
