What we're about

All successful professionals appreciate that their Network = their Net-Worth. You can never have too large or too strong of a network. Most people understand that they NEED a network, they just don't have a step-by-step process to get the results they want.
This is where Connectors Club comes in. Networking is NOT going to an event, handing out cards, giving your elevator speech, and then waiting for the phone to ring. Networking is also NOT a pool of prospects where you go to throw up all over everyone with your sales pitch.
Networking done correctly is a combination of factors.
Since launching this group in 2007, we've learned a lot of wrong ways to do networking, and we've learned a lot of right ways to do it. At its most basic, successful networking is about building relationships. Think of the way you purchase goods and services, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

This year, we'll help you with your personal development, and help you grow a strong network of professionals through multiple valuable events including Coffee Meet and Greets, Mastermind, Sharpen the Axe Personal Development, our Strategic Connections Initiative, and maybe even a couple Happy Hours and Lunch n' Learn Sessions.

As a great mentor once taught me: "You've got to circulate to percolate."

I encourage you to attend one (or multiple) events, plug in, engage, and connect with some fascinating folks you would never otherwise cross paths with. We meet multiple times a month, mostly in person, but occasionally on Zoom. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you and look forward to seeing you soon

Connectors Club - Meet and Greet Over Coffee, 28 Mar 2023, 08:15 AM

Grand Traverse Pie Company

Everyone is welcome at this (and all) of our events, but we like to use this session as the "shallow end of the pool" for those who are new to joining us on MeetUp, and for those who have joined, and either not attended one of our events, or haven't been in quite awhile.

They say You Need to Circulate to Percolate, and there is nothing better than making new connections and strengthening existing ones.

Let's meet and chat! Tuesday mornings are a great time to reboot your efforts to grow your network. I'm hosting a low-key event to get to know you all a little better, especially those who have not yet attended one of our events. COVID obviously threw the in person meetings off the rails, but there's nothing like meeting in person to build relationships that lead to great things. During this Meet and Greet, we'll discuss things like how we can help you achieve your goals, and how Connectors Club can be a vehicle to help you with Personal Development via Mastermind, our NEW Sharpen the Axe Series, our NEW Strategic Connections Initiative, and MORE.

We know it can always be a little intimidating to come into a group of folks you don't know. I like to say that we default to friendship, and that there are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet. We do our best to make everyone feel welcome from the start. Just pretend you are meeting with a group of old friends, and soon we will be!

EVERYONE is welcome! We are not specifically geared towards any particular group. Whether you are an entrepreneur, solopreneur, Job Seeker, new in town, retiree, thinking of starting a business, or just someone interested in meeting new people, we would love to meet you too! We especially LOVE to meet those who consider themselves introverted, because many of us are introverted too!

Step out of your Comfort Zone! I promise you will meet some interesting people you would never otherwise cross paths with, AND, you'll have some fun along the way. See you soon!

First Tuesday 30 Day Accountability Group

Grand Traverse Pie Company

Accountability is the GLUE that ties commitment to results. Lets face it: We may not WANT to hold ourselves accountable, we may not LIKE holding ourselves accountable, but we all know we NEED to hold ourselves accountable if we are going to achieve those goals. What if you had a peer group of professionals to help you and hold you accountable? (Hint: You do).

During this NEW Series, we will each share our ACTIONABLE 30 day goals, share our desired results, and then hold each other accountable during the course of the month to encourage, and support one another to stay on track. Heck, we can quite possibly share connections and other resources to help you achieve those goals. If you need help creating goals, and reverse engineering them into 30 day increments, we can help you with that too.

The 30 day increment is manageable. It's not too overwhelming like the prospect of annual goals, but when we look at it through the lens of 30 days at a time, it is much more manageable.

This will be both challenging and fun, and is created for the purpose of helping you achieve your goals. Everyone is welcome! Come check us out, you'll be glad you did!

First Friday Mastermind Group

The Back Office Studio

This will be valuable and fun! BYO Lunch @ BOS

The purpose of this group is to share your goals and challenges, and then utilize the collective brainpower of the group to help you achieve those goals, and overcome your challenges.

Everyone should belong to a Mastermind Group. The Mastermind concept is based on the idea that none of us individually is as smart as all of us collectively. Think of a Mastermind Group as your own, personal Board of Directors, gathered together for the expressed purpose of helping you reach your goals, whether that is to Start a Business, Grow a Business, Change Careers, Look for the Next Thing, etc.

If you have participated in a Mastermind Group in the past, you know how valuable it can be as a vehicle to help you reach your goals.

If you have never participated in a Mastermind group before, here is your opportunity.

Connectors Club has hosted several Mastermind groups over the years, and I still receive feedback to this day from former attendees as to the value they received, and that they are still using the tools and disciplines learned during their time in the group.

This will be our first in person Mastermind since COVID, and I am promising you something special. I have the benefit of having attended almost all previous Masterminds, and I can now capture the best and most powerful tools and exercises, consolidate them into a new program, all designed to benefit YOU!

The plan is to meet monthly, and the purpose is to provide you with you with a group of awesome professionals, a few simple, powerful tools, an outstanding support system, a dose of Accountability, some great peer-to-peer Mentors, and the opportunity to Enjoy the Journey, and Celebrate our individual and collective wins.

Our APRIL Focus will be on Q2. You'll review your Q1 Efforts, share wins losses, and plans for improvement over the next 12 weeks.
We'll discuss the Wheel of Life. This is useful for all areas of your life, both personal and professional. As time allows, we will do a deep dive into one members business.

To be a success, members need to commit to one another. This is a limited number of sessions, once per month. We realize life happens, and understand if you cannot attend on occasion, but we ask that you make the group a priority for the meeting sessions, and try to make it non-negotiable with your other commitments. You don't need to commit to all sessions without attending one, giving us a test drive, and seeing if it is a good fit for you. All we ask is that you come with an open mind, and a spirit of finding positive ways to help the others in the group.

There is no cost to participate in the program. This months session is at Back Office Studio, and you are free to bring your lunch, brown bag style. As a professional courtesy, PLEASE RSVP if you are going to attend, so that I may provide a head count.

I for one, am really looking forward to it. I really encourage you to join, check us out, make some great new connections, and add a tool to your toolbox that will carry you forward not only for 2023, but for many years to come.
I look forward to seeing you there!

Sharpen the Axe: Internet and Social Media Marketing

Grand Traverse Pie Company

In today’s world, it seems that everyone is busier than ever, but less happy that ever. Especially for entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, the constant challenge is to take care of existing clients while keeping a sharpened axe by filling the pipeline with new clients at the same time.

During our Sharpen the Axe Series, we have great discussions, with different perspectives, on how to best use the 80:20 rule, and how to keep your pipeline full while servicing current clients/ customers.

You will get more benefit from this group when you come with a spirit of "How Can I Help?" rather than "What's in it for me?"

This months topic is LOADED, but designed to help you take a time out, evaluate your current online marketing goals, efforts, and results. Then, create and execute an effective strategy with a measurable ROI. This will be fun!

Here's the Sharpen the Axe Story:
Once upon a time, a very strong woodcutter asked for a job in a timber merchant and he got it. The pay was really good and so was the work condition. For those reasons, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.
His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he supposed to work.
The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees.
“Congratulations,” the boss said. “Go on that way!”
Very motivated by the boss words, the woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he could only bring 15 trees. The third day he tried even harder, but he could only bring 10 trees. Day after day he was bringing less and less trees.
“I must be losing my strength”, the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.
“When was the last time you sharpened your axe?” the boss asked.
“Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees…”

### Reflection:

Our lives are like that. We sometimes get so busy that we don’t take time to sharpen the “axe”. In today’s world, it seems that everyone is busier than ever, but less happy that ever.
Why is that? Could it be that we have forgotten how to stay “sharp”? There’s nothing wrong with activity and hard work. But we should not get so busy that we neglect the truly important things in life, like our personal life, taking time to get close to our Creator, giving more time for our family, taking time to read etc.
We all need time to relax, to think and meditate, to learn and grow. If we don’t take the time to sharpen the “axe”, we will become dull and lose our effectiveness.
