What we’re about
Understanding the nature of consciousness is amongst humanity's most important questions. What is consciousness? Can we create conscious AI? Can we upload our consciousness to a machine? Answering these questions have a material impact on who we are as a species as well as our place in the universe.
Welcome to Conscious AI! Conscious AI is bringing together the world's leading thinkers, so that we can have a meaningful debate to approach answering these questions.
Grounded in deep scientific research, this group explores the boundaries of consciousness, awareness and sentience through the fields of Theory of Mind, Artificial Intelligence, Multi-agent systems, Virtual Environments, Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computing, Safety and Ethics.

See all- Is AI conscious? Early results from the digital consciousness modelLink visible for attendees
This event is hosted by the Partnership for Research Into Sentient Machines (PRISM), a non-profit seeded by Conscium. Arvo Muñoz Morán of Rethink Priorities will present the initial results from their digital consciousness model.
The link for this meetup will be sent separately in due course.
Talk Summary
Could advanced AI systems possess the functional hallmarks of consciousness — and if so, how confident should we be that they do?
This talk will present work-in-progress from Rethink Priorities’ Digital Consciousness Model (DCM), a hierarchical Bayesian model designed to transform heterogeneous expert judgements (and eventually tests’ data) into quantitative credences that a given digital system is conscious.
While our focus is on digital systems, the model also addresses animal and human consciousness, providing crucial benchmarks against which we can calibrate our understanding of the less well-understood digital kind.
The presentation will conclude with a preliminary roadmap for the future of this work, reflecting some strategic directions.
