She can solve problems, pay the bills, make the decisions and take care of the people she loves.
Here's what many people misunderstand.
Being independent doesn't mean she doesn't want love.
More often than not, it means life taught her to rely on herself first.
Life has a way of changing us. Sometimes it asks us to become stronger than we ever imagined. We navigate heartbreak, divorce, loss, single parenting, career changes, caring for others and seasons where there simply isn't anyone else to lean on. In the process, we become resilient. We become capable. We become independent.
So what happens when she does want to open her heart again?
What helps her feel emotionally safe enough to let someone in?
This month, I'd like to have an open, honest, respectful conversation between women and men.
Women will have the opportunity to share what they truly need in order to feel safe, seen and understood in a relationship.
Men will have the opportunity to listen, ask respectful questions and also share your perspective. What helps you feel confident approaching an independent woman? What makes you hesitate? What do you need to feel emotionally safe yourselves?
This isn't about blaming either side or deciding who's right.
It's about replacing assumptions with understanding.
If you've ever wondered why dating feels so different after divorce, loss or years of doing life on your own, I think you'll find this conversation refreshing.
As always, we'll create a respectful, welcoming space where everyone has an opportunity to be heard.
