Can an Artificial Intelligence be spiritual? Or enlightened? What does that mean in the context of A.I.? What would be the societal implications? Dr. Mohamad Tarifi leads a team of engineers at Google developing the next generation of A.I., and is the perfect person to guide this inquiry. Mohamad brings together deep backgrounds in both science/engineering, and meditation. Its this unique background that is informing the development of this totally new approach to A.I.

Research focus is on Intelligence: developing biologically inspired AI algorithms that are rigorously grounded in Theory, and building machine learning algorithms and applications. I have also worked on other research areas including Physics, Quantum Computing, Game Theory, Complexity, Bioinformatics, and many mathematical disciplines.

Designed, prototyped, and productionised systems in various companies. Companies include Google, Amazon, Capital One, Ford Research, and several smaller startups. Application areas included recommender systems, finance, credit and currency systems, machine control, game AI, marketing, large scale computing, computer vision, augmented reality, data analysis and exploration.
• Entrepreneur
Helped launch or reinvent several companies, projects, and new ventures. Built and managed engineering teams of various sizes. Companies include Ignition Entertainment, Convert, Friend Labs, Aditya Technologies, Givtr, and several more independent projects and research collaborations.
• Reformer
Lead changes through developing a shared vision. As an enabler and community builder, enjoyed getting distinguished people together and closely mentored several leaders. Experimenting with new organizational design. Researching and promoting economic foundations of our future.
